Mexico, Feb. 22 (Notimex).- The state of Nuevo Leon is experiencing growth in infrastructure and the attraction of international events, which is why in 2019 two thousand new rooms belonging to well-known hotel chains will be opened.

This was announced by the Ministry of Tourism of the entity, who noted that the state closed 2018 with a hotel occupancy percentage of 71 percent, which meant an economic spill of 13 thousand 845 million pesos.

While the average growth of people staying, compared to 2017, was 1.2 to 1.9 percent, it said in a statement.

It added that these figures reinforce the confidence of chain investors such as JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, IHG, Westin and Fiesta Americana, among others, who see the state as one of the strongest destinations in Mexico.

IHG, the chain that manages the Holiday Inn brand, announced that it will add 378 rooms to its offer in two hotels that will be built in the metropolitan area of ??Monterrey, where the Holiday Inn & Suites Apodaca will have 208 rooms and Holiday Inn Express Fundidora will have 170.

As an important economic power, Nuevo León will have a luxurious property of 250 rooms belonging to the JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts brand in San Pedro Garza García, a place that will also receive a new convention center in Main Entrance, the state agency explained.

In this regard, it stressed that with these investments, Nuevo León continues to position itself as a tourist reference for business and meetings, cultural experiences, wellness and beauty, gastronomy, sports and ecotourism, as well as having three Magical Towns and a wide range of thematic parks.
